What do these two images have in common?
Correct, in both cases the car on the left is white :). All joking aside, it is not unusual at all to see two cars parked like this in Italy. Space is limited on the streets and sometimes it is truly a miracle to find a spot where you can park your car. For this reason Italians have been compelled to refine their driving skills. Believe it or not, Italians are great drivers.
It is small, not too fast and it buzzes around. Yes, it is the ape (bee) but also the Ape (Piaggio), the Italian truck by definition. Born in 1948 with the goal of providing an inexpensive mean of freight transportation to help Italians during the economical reconstruction of the post-war years, today it has become an icon. Tireless, it still buzzes around on the Italians roads.
A strange thing happens when you move to a completely different country: you go back to your hometown and fall in love with things you didn’t care much about before leaving. For me one of those things is the Fiat 500. The intramontabile, timeless Fiat 500. I’m glad it is still around.
