In my opinion, the medieval town of Borghetto, near Verona, is one of Italy’s best kept secrets. A tiny and picturesque village, Borghetto is known for its water mills and romantic setting. You can even spend a night in one of the mills and enjoy the suggestive view over the Mincio river.
If you want to score a good deal (and take home larger quantities of fruit and vegetables) then head to the mercato all’ingrosso where it is not unrealistic to find oranges for €0.50 per kilo (~$0.50 a pound). Not bad, eh?
A dome shaped like a shell is an artistic expression of extraordinary beauty and simplicity. If you happen to be near Padua, make sure to pay a visit to the Duomo of Montagnana, a small, charming town surrounded by a very well preserved medieval wall.
