An amazing Christmas light show in Trieste

December 17, 2014

You’ve got to see this. Take a historical building in a beautiful Piazza and project on it a 3d light show accompanied by fantastic music and you get a recipe for pure amazement. I think this is best Christmas show I’ve ever seen. Truly.

Kudos to Luca Agnani, Claudio Cimini and Francesco Mari who are the creative minds behind this masterpiece, and to Video New Trieste for producing the footage.

Merry Christmas everyone!

How to make a Nativity scene with a Panettone

December 11, 2012

Yesterday I went  grocery shopping and while I was walking by the bakery department I saw something that immediately stopped me in my tracks. Two things to be exact. First, I saw a 10 kg Panettone for the “sweet” price of €250 (~$325).

But what really impressed me was a Nativity scene made with a simple Panettone and edible Nativity figurines.

If you want to replicate this great idea and you live in the States, you can easily find the Panettone either at Trader’s Joe or World Market. As for the Nativity figurines, I wasn’t able to find any edible set online, but I did find some figures that are really cute and would be perfect for this project:

I’m sure your guests will love it!

“A Natale puoi…”

December 15, 2011

There’s one thing Italians associate with Christmas every year and that’s the lavender box of the pandoro Bauli. The Bauli brand has been around since 1937, when Ruggero Bauli opened his workshop in Verona (AKA Romeo and Juliet’s town) where in 1950 he started producing pandoro, the traditional Veronese Christmas cake. However, besides producing very good Christmas cakes and sweets, the Bauli company has been producing also memorable commercials for its products, you know, in the Coca-Cola style, with songs that you still remember and sing after many years.

This commercial was running in the 80’s (when I was attending middle school and eating sweets with no guilt, just to give you an idea…).

Most recently, Bauli launched a new commercial which features, in my opinion, one of the best Italian Christmas songs  titled “A Natale puoi” (literally translated as “At Christmas time you can…”).

Oh, by the way, if you want to sing it AND taste the pandoro at the same time, just remember that you can find it on Amazon! Is there anything Amazon doesn’t sell?

Merry Christmas everyone!
