I love this photo. Maybe it is because green has always been my favorite color or maybe it is because you can create some very interesting images from some very unusual subjects, the fact is that this picture is one of my favorite ones. Radicchio on the left, rucola (arugula) on the right as I found them in an Italian supermarket. Click.
Pane, burro e zucchero
One day I told my son Alessio that a very fond memory I have from my childhood is that of a family friend who used to make a snack for her kids by spreading creamy butter on some fresh bread and sprinkling it with a pinch of sugar. He soon wanted to try it and loved it ever since. Easy to make and rich in taste, pane, burro e zucchero is a yummy alternative to the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Provare per credere (try it to believe it).
Azure fish
As much as this title sounds funny, it’s the literary translation of pesce azzurro, a group of fish, generally of small dimensions, caught off the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. The mackerels belong to this group and are delicious when dressed with simple ingredients such as mustard, capers, fresh garlic, parsley, lemon, salt and extra virgin olive oil. As they say in Italy it is buono da leccarsi i baffi, meaning that it is so good that you would lick your own mustache.
