In Italy there are so many undiscovered jewels and Aquileia is one of them. A small town near Udine, it used to be one of the richest cities of the Roman Empire. Today Aquileia is part of the Unesco World Heritage and many of its treasures are still to be discovered since they lie beneath the surrounding fields. The photo above shows the inside of the basilica, whose floor is the largest Paleo-Christian mosaic of the western world.
The Italian piazza
Italy couldn’t exist without the concept of piazza. If you leave behind its architectural definition, the true meaning of piazza is pure social life. Italians meet in the piazza, dance, chat, walk in it. I would call it the shell that surrounds an expressive aggregation, as Italians often are.
Radicchio versus rucola
I love this photo. Maybe it is because green has always been my favorite color or maybe it is because you can create some very interesting images from some very unusual subjects, the fact is that this picture is one of my favorite ones. Radicchio on the left, rucola (arugula) on the right as I found them in an Italian supermarket. Click.
