In my recent trip to Italy, I’ve noticed that municipalities of small towns have been adopting a new way to collect parking fees. Instead of using traditional parking meters, drivers can purchase pre-paid parking permits sold in coffee shops and newsstands. How does it work? Just scratch the date and time of arrival, put the permit on your dashboard and come back in time before the Vigili Urbani give you a ticket. The average parking fee is around $0.60 per hour.

Hi very interesting blog, I know I will come to visit it many times again since I too am explorer with perticular taste in Italy.
I have some questions if you don't mind answering. When renting a car, what are the prices like, availability, insurance, and BRAND/ gas millage speed compromise.
As well if one was to journey down the Autostrada Azuri – with the purpose of exploring small towns with no perticular schedule but on the budget, what would be the best option when looking for accomodations on the go, camping, local tourist office or something else? Please elaborate.
